Anxiety Therapy in Vancouver
Your mind can rest again.
Calming, down-to-earth anxiety therapy for adults in South Granville, Vancouver, & online across British Columbia.
LUNAR COUNSELLING
I’ve tried so hard. I just can’t seem to break free from anxiety.
You’ve replayed one conversation over three nights. You’ve written the message, deleted it, and written it again. Your chest tightens before you’ve even opened your laptop, and by the time you get into bed, your mind decides it’s time to review everything you might have done wrong since 2019.
You look like you’re managing, but nobody sees how much of that runs on worry, and you wonder if you’ll ever feel in control of your life again.
Anxiety therapy in Vancouver helps you understand what's happening and find your way back to yourself.
Does any of this sound familiar?
- Your mind won't power down, and you're overthinking things most people decide in seconds.
- Panic has hit before, and part of you is always watching for the next one.
- You feel judged in rooms where nobody's paying you any attention.
- You've started saying no to things, and your world's getting smaller.
- Your body's stuck in it too: fatigue, racing heart, tight chest, shallow breath.
- "Good enough" never feels like enough, so you keep redoing and rechecking.
Anxiety therapy can help you through it.

LUNAR COUNSELLING
You are not your anxiety.
“That’s where we start.
Years ago, I had a job that was wearing me down and left me with a racing mind and a body that wouldn’t settle.
Everything changed for me when I learned how anxiety was impacting me physiologically. I knew something wasn’t right, and I knew I wasn’t alone in experiencing it. I just didn’t have the language for it yet.”
– Evanna Kieran, Founder
Lunar Counselling was built to give people the language and tools to understand themselves and improve their life.
The name comes from observations of the moon: The moon goes through phases; it’s sometimes barely visible, but it’s whole the entire time. People work the same way. They show different sides, experience different phases, but ultimately they are whole people doing their best.
Originally from Ireland and living in Vancouver for 7+ years now, Evanna is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology and advanced training in complex trauma and EMDR.
In session, you’ll find an unhurried, warm, and down to earth approach. Someone who’ll sit with the hard parts without judging, and who believes you already carry what you need to move through them. Using somatic and mindfulness-based approaches, our Vancouver therapists help you find that so you can move to a fuller life that is true to you.

What Anxiety Therapy Can Help You Do
Slow the spiral
When your thoughts pick up speed, we’ll look at what’s fuelling them and build practical ways to interrupt the loop, so you can think clearly again instead of circling the same worry for hours.
Settle what your body's holding
Anxiety lives in the chest, the jaw, the stomach, and the shoulders. Using somatic and mindfulness-based work, we help your nervous system come down out of high alert, so the palpitations, the tension, and the sleepless nights ease off.
Move through panic
If panic has hit you before, we’ll help you understand what’s happening in your body during an attack and build a set of responses you trust, so it feels less frightening and less in charge.
Feel more at ease around people
Social anxiety makes ordinary things costly: speaking up in a meeting, answering the phone, going to the thing you said yes to. We work on the fear of being judged, at a pace that feels doable, so you can be yourself in a room without rehearsing it first.
Soften the inner critic
That harsh internal voice and the perfectionism it drives keep anxiety fed. We’ll help you turn the volume down on it and build self-esteem that doesn’t depend on getting everything right.
Make a decision and let it stand
Overthinking often ends in freeze. Your anxiety therapist in Vancouver will help you trust yourself enough to choose, and to stop relitigating it afterward.
Stop shrinking your world
Avoidance brings short-term relief and long-term cost. Step by step, and never faster than you’re ready for, we help you move back toward the things anxiety has been talking you out of.
Work through what's underneath it
Sometimes anxiety is the surface of something older. When that’s the case, we can explore gently using trauma-informed approaches, so your past stops setting the tone for your present.

Methods We Use To Work Through Anxiety
We pull from a range of approaches depending on what anxiety looks like for you, and you’ll leave sessions with something practical in hand. Depending on what you bring in, we might draw on:
An Optional Assessment To Start
We may walk through a brief anxiety assessment early on. For a lot of people, seeing anxiety laid out is the first time anyone’s confirmed that what they’ve been carrying is real and has a name.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Learn to let an uncomfortable thought exist without wrestling with it, and discover skills to help regulate your emotions.
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
Process difficult emotion with a steady, therapeutic presence right there alongside you. This is where the deeper shifts happen.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Catch the automatic negative thoughts, understand where they come from, and shift the patterns keeping the worry running.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Get underneath the anxiety to the feelings it’s covering, and learn to be with them instead of bypassing them.
EMDR
When anxiety is tied to something your brain hasn’t finished processing, EMDR helps it complete the work.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Practical, in-the-moment tools to come back to the present and catch worry early, before it escalates.
Somatic Therapy
Work with what your body’s holding onto, so the physical side of anxiety has somewhere to go.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Build on what’s already working in your life, and get momentum where you need it most.
On the darkest nights, the moon is still fully there. Anxiety makes you doubt the same thing about yourself.
You don’t have to.
You’re still there.

Questions About Anxiety Therapy
How do I know if it's anxiety or if I'm just stressed?
Stress usually has an address. It’s attached to a deadline, a move, or a hard month, and it eases when that thing resolves. Anxiety tends to stick around after the situation passes, and it can show up on days when there’s nothing obvious to point to.
If you’re worrying constantly, overthinking small decisions, feeling on edge, or finding it hard to rest even when life is fine on paper, it’s worth looking at. You don’t need a diagnosis or a label to reach out. If it’s weighing on you, that’s reason enough.
I've never done this before. What's a first session like?
Reaching out takes courage, and feeling nervous beforehand is completely normal. Our South Granville office is a calm, comfortable space, and the first session is mostly about putting you at ease and getting a fuller picture of what life looks like for you right now. You set the pace on what you’d like to talk about, and there’s no pressure to go faster than feels comfortable. If you’re not sure where to start, we’ll ask a few gentle questions and go from there.
What type of therapy do you use, and how can it help me?
We don’t believe in a singular approach to therapy, because everybody and their situation is unique. Instead, we draw from a range of modalities depending on what you bring to sessions. For anxiety, we may use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to work with persistent automatic negative thoughts, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which teaches you how to accept uncomfortable thoughts rather than fighting against them. Mindfulness-based approaches are also highly effective for anxiety, offering tools to stay grounded and to catch worry before it escalates.
Does therapy help with anxiety?
Anxiety is one of the most treatable things people come to counselling for, and it’s never too late to get support, even if you’ve been carrying it since you were a kid. Therapy helps you understand what’s driving it, including the thoughts, habits, and avoidance patterns that keep it going, and then builds you a set of responses that work in the moment. We bring in somatic and body-based work alongside that, because the racing heart and the tight chest need attention too. Over time, many clients notice they’re calmer, sleeping better, and less run by it day to day.
How long are anxiety therapy sessions?
For most people, 50 minutes feels like the right amount of time, and that’s the standard length of a counselling session. For others, a longer session is a better fit. Extended sessions run 80 minutes and can help if you like time to settle in, or if you’d like to go deeper. We’ll decide together what works best for you.
Will I have homework between therapy sessions?
Only if you want it. Some clients love having something concrete to practise, and others would rather leave the work in the room. Our aim is to help you build a real toolkit of coping skills you can use in daily life, so if between-session practice supports that for you, we’ll build it in. If it doesn’t, say so. This is your therapy, and we’d rather adjust than have you sit with something that isn’t working.
How will I know if therapy is helping?
Progress is usually gradual, and it often shows up in small, ordinary ways before you’d call it a breakthrough. Over time, clients generally notice improved mood, more self-awareness, and less emotional reactivity, along with a greater sense of stability and confidence. You might catch yourself recovering faster after a hard conversation, or making a decision without the three-day post-mortem. We’ll check in regularly about what’s shifting and what still needs attention.
Can you help with social anxiety specifically?
Yes. Social anxiety is one of the areas we work with most. If you’re rehearsing conversations beforehand, replaying them afterward, avoiding calls, or feeling certain that everyone in the room is sizing you up, that’s familiar territory here. We work on the thoughts underneath the fear of judgement and move toward feared situations gradually, at a speed that feels manageable, so your world can open back up.
What should I do during a panic attack?
Panic attacks are frightening, and they do pass. Slow, steady breathing helps, as does gently orienting to what’s around you: what you can see, hear, and feel under your hands. Try to let the sensations rise and fall rather than fighting them, since the fight tends to add fuel. In anxiety counselling, your anxiety therapist in Vancouver helps you understand why panic happens in the first place and builds you a plan you can reach for, so it becomes something you know how to handle.
Is there an anxiety therapist near me?
If you’re in Vancouver, our office is at 2628 Granville St in South Granville, steps from West Broadway and close to Vancouver General Hospital, with easy access from Fairview, Kitsilano, Downtown Vancouver, Yaletown, the West End, Dunbar, West Point Grey, and UBC. If you’re elsewhere in the province, we offer online anxiety therapy right across British Columbia, which a lot of people prefer when leaving the house feels like a lot.
